Bilibili is an online video platform created in China in 2009 and has more than 200 million active users per month. In it, you see almost two and a half million new content. It is arguably the Chinese reaction to YouTube.

How Bilibili works, the ‘Chinese YouTube’

It is the favorite application of young Chinese: 86% of its users are under 35 years old. The most popular content is related to gaming culture and anime. However, the irruption of the acb corresponds to a strategy of the company to include important sports in its catalog.

Because Bilibili also offers live broadcasts. Of course, like its older brother ”YouTube, it also has advertising inserts and premium content subscriptions, a more than profitable business since its more than 14 and a half million subscribers dedicate about 220 euros a year to it.

Its founder, Xu Yi, created a prototype of Bilibili in just three days based on the tastes of anime and manga fans. Now the company is listed on the Nasdaq and is owned by large business groups in the Asian country such as Alibabá and Tencent.

70% of the content is generated by the user, the rest, Bilibili: style, technology, beauty, esports, anime … And, of course, live matches like those of the acb. An extensive catalog of topics that attract an average of 1,200 million daily visits to Bilibili.

Bilibili users can not only watch live broadcasts of the second most important basketball league in the world on the acb channel. With the help of the acb and Kalea Sport & Entertainment, the streaming platform builds loyalty to new fans of the so-called ‘Liga Endesa’ with highlights, historical videos and curious club content aimed especially at its Chinese fans, such as these friendly videos of Valencia Basket or Urbas Fuenlabrada players eating mooncakes and congratulating the Mid-Autumn Festival.
