Chinese New Year traditions<\/h3>\n

On January 31, the first holiday, what would be Chinese New Year’s Eve<\/strong> is celebrated with a family dinner. On the first day of the Chinese New Year<\/strong>, people go to temples to ask for health and money. In families, a bonus is given in a red envelope called ‘h\u00f3ng b\u0101o’<\/strong>, an envelope that also symbolizes good luck.<\/p>\n

In these festivals, y\u00fa<\/strong> (fish, chosen as the main dish of these festivals because it is pronounced similar to \u201cplenty\u201d), jiaozi<\/strong> (Chinese dumplings) and nian gao<\/strong> (glutinous rice cake) are eaten. But it can also be accompanied (according to provinces) with chun juan<\/strong> (like spring rolls), yi mein<\/strong> (noodles), tangyuan<\/strong> (sweet rice balls), and fruits<\/strong> that bring good luck such as orange, tangerine and Chinese pomelo. Everything that is eaten has its own symbolism and is related to prosperity, wealth, family union or longevity.<\/p>\n

The houses are filled with lanterns, Chinese knots, door gods and Chunlian.<\/strong> The latter are red banners with Chinese letters that collect the couplets of the Spring Festival. His rhymes speak of prosperity, abundance and happiness.<\/p>\n

During the parades you can enjoy the ancient dances of the Lion and the Dragon<\/strong>, which drive away evil spirits and whose origin is in martial arts.<\/p>\n
