On the first day of the <strong>Chinese New Year<\/strong>, people go to temples to ask for health and money. In families, a bonus is given in a red envelope called &#8216;<strong>h\u00f3ng b\u0101o&#8217;<\/strong>, an envelope that also symbolizes good luck.<\/p>\n<p>In these festivals, <strong>y\u00fa<\/strong> (fish, chosen as the main dish of these festivals because it is pronounced similar to \u201cplenty\u201d), <strong>jiaozi<\/strong> (Chinese dumplings) and <strong>nian gao<\/strong> (glutinous rice cake) are eaten. But it can also be accompanied (according to provinces) with <strong>chun juan<\/strong> (like spring rolls), <strong>yi mein<\/strong> (noodles), <strong>tangyuan<\/strong> (sweet rice balls), and<strong> fruits<\/strong> that bring good luck such as orange, tangerine and Chinese pomelo. Everything that is eaten has its own symbolism and is related to prosperity, wealth, family union or longevity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The houses are filled with lanterns, Chinese knots, door gods and Chunlian.<\/strong> The latter are red banners with Chinese letters that collect the couplets of the Spring Festival.
